唱歌所需的爆發力並不真是要用盡全力才能夠爆出來。 爆發的前提就是要先封鎖，再增加它往外擴張的傾向，才會產生爆開的效果。用力將空氣推往關閉著的聲門，腹肌開始收縮，並使肋骨向下移、壓迫腹腔，使橫隔膜往上。最後令到胸腔體積到最小，體內二氧化碳才能大量呼出，衝破聲門。
