Celine Tam Sings “Girl On Fire” for Girls’ Education: One Song Raised $1.15 Million
Celine Tam singing “Girl On Fire” isn‘t for a competition. It’s not for applause. It‘s for a mission: supporting girls’ education worldwide.
As a Room to Read International Reading Ambassador, Celine sang one song at a charity gala and helped raise $1.15 million USD, supporting 23,060 young learners.
One song. One night. $1.15 million. 23,060 futures.
Why This Performance Matters
1. You can tell she believes what she’s singing. “Girl On Fire” is already a song about strength and confidence. When a young artist who champions girls‘ education sings it, the meaning changes completely. As Celine herself said: “Before I learned my first song, I had to learn how to read.”
2. It proves that talent can be measured. I tell parents all the time: learning to sing isn’t just for competitions. It‘s so that when you have a voice, you can use it to help others. Celine did exactly that — and helped a lot of people.
3. It’s the ultimate demonstration of using talent for good. $1.15 million isn‘t a small number. It represents a young artist using her voice for a mission bigger than herself.
Why I Want to Share This
Because I’m Celine‘s vocal coach. I’ve watched her grow since she was three. I‘ve seen her compete, I’ve seen her win. But what makes me proudest is seeing her use her talent to support a mission bigger than herself — and actually make it happen.
